Why Does Drama Get More Attention Than Progress

I noticed something about social media.

Someone can post something positive, educational, or genuinely useful and people scroll right past it.

But let there be drama, controversy, or somebody’s downfall?

Everybody suddenly has time.

While reading The Psychology of Money, I came across a chapter called “The Seduction of Pessimism.” It made me think about why this happens.

Bad news feels urgent. Progress usually doesn’t.

Someone losing everything overnight is a story.

Someone investing consistently for 10 years is “boring.”

A business failing publicly gets attention.

Someone quietly building one for years often doesn’t.

That’s the thing about progress: it’s usually boring while it’s happening.

Saving. Studying. Training. Investing. Building.

None of it looks impressive at first.

But repeated long enough, those boring actions can completely change your life.

So be careful what constantly earns your attention.

Because what gets the most attention isn’t always what matters the most.
