Seriously though… I know productivity and maximizing your days are important… but isn't that almost obvious? I mean really, who WANTS to be unproductive and waste time? Nobody. So, here’s a new message: “It’s Okay to Take a Day.”
Social media apps display people being productive and making the most of their time. It shows the HIGHLIGHTS. That’s what it’s meant for. Sure, there's a lot more content on self-care, but still, it’s content. Furthermore, is it genuinely unplugging, fully focused on yourself if you’re recording it?

So what does “taking a day” really mean?
Here’s a perspective to explore: Taking a day isn’t planned. Taking a day is recognizing that you need to prioritize yourself, despite what’s going on.
It’s putting all the things you've included into your reality on pause and recharging yourself sooner than later so you don’t hit burnout. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in what’s happening around us, we neglect what’s going on inside of us.
What’s on the inside is bound to seep out in due time. It actually hurts us more sometimes to power through when we feel that urge to take time for ourselves. The more work you do in reflection and self-help, the more you’ll start to understand these cues.
For me personally, my mood is HEAVILY impacted, despite logical reasoning with myself and implementing coping skills. It’s a feeling in my stomach that I need to opt-out and hop in.
We’re not obligated to always be available and ready. The world is ever-changing. We’re constantly changing with it. We have to create habits just as we have to break them. Everything is in flux, so when we push ourselves, despite knowing we need to “take a day”, we’re no longer flowing. We’re ignoring the internal urge that’s alerting us that something needs to be tended to.
Nothing is more important than taking care of ourselves. We literally can’t be our best selves if we neglect to nurture and listen to our intuition.
So take that day… it’s okay.

Sometimes we get so caught up in life we forget to slow down and breathe . This sounds exactly like what taking a day looks like
Good read! I took a day last week and still felt guilty :( about taking the day so I'm not quite there yet but I atleast took the first step!
I agree with this. Between our daily routines and getting caught in our habits of what we think is actually taking a day. We often still feel as if nothing was done for ourselves. At this big age I’m just learning to relax. This was well written and well needed🧡
I so agree with this, sometimes we get so blinded by our goals and daily routine that we forget about ourselves.
